The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe film, based on the first book of CS Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series is schededuled to open this coming Friday December 9th. The Guardian in England had this great article called "know your Narnia" by Stephanie Merritt - An A - Z guide to the books their characters and more.
A is for Aslan
Aslan the Lion of the title, King, Creator and ultimately Saviour of the land of Narnia. In The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, his return is long-prophesied, he is put to death in a traitor's place (see Edmund), and comes back to life to lead his followers in defeating the forces of evil. Hmm, it does all sound oddly familiar ... A is also for Allegory, see Christian.

Liza had a get together at The Independant (formerly Duprees) last
night and although I got their late I was glad I made it. The guinness
was free flowing and we got into some competetive pool with Seth, Ed
and Wayne. Let me just say that although both Seth and Wayne are decent
pool players - Ed takes the cake with his ability to bounce three
balls off the table in five shots.
Where I learn how to do that?
Saw Erin and Craig for the first time since their wedding and they
looked wonderful and found out that Amy is getting an award for her
contributions to an Emmy winning piece - Congrats!
My first visit to The Independant in perhaps two years was two fold.
The place has not changed at all featuring the same menu, the same
drinks, even the same staff and regulars which made me feel I hadn't
really missed anything. However, on the plus -it retains its warm and
rowdy atmosphere and remains deservedly a favorite Intown hangout. I
can see myself visiting more frequently and that's great:)
Here's a few pics from the night:

Did a search for images on my laptop and discovered folders full on
Mars Explorer/Rover pictures - actually a whole weeks worth on daily
NASA updates. I shared the folder for day four (SOL 4) and added them
as a featured gallery.
I'm always amazed that these are actually images from another planet!

Wonderful evening at the parents with Sara and Jay doing everything except the turkey. We had Monic (sp???) who was visiting from Alabama along with John Ray and his family and several of my mothers coworkers. But the funnest part of the evening was a conversation about blogging - since I have a blog but not to the extent that some people do.... I was talking about "live blogging" and just wondered how people had the energy to do it. |

Current Mood - Hungry Current Music - Johhny Cash - American There is now a Fellini's Pizza in Decatur right off Commerce Dr, just past the Icehouse Lofts! Traditional Fellini's decor with all the favorites - large pizzas with stuffed crusts, house salads and a fair selection of beer. As usual the outside is my favorite spot. It's easy to sit there with a beer and wish your house has such a fantastic porch or patio in the front. Happy to have one of my favorite eating places practially within walking distance of my house. They should be open till at least 2am daily. |

I stopped over at Buddhi's b'day party for a little while before making it down to Ed's. The place was already full so I decided then and there that I would be there for the long run. All the right elements were in place:
- Lots of already chilled drinks
- Wonderful fire in the backyard
- Conversations already hinging towards the bizarre
- International rock stars in the form of Mason and Steve (jk)
After my rather frustrating afternoon this was a blessing. Met some film producers from Florida and caught up on clubbing gossip. I think the vote is in - who needs clubs when you can get it all at your house. |

Once in a while I'll stumble upon a cool site such as this. It's
an archive of Hubble space telescope photos for anyone to view. They
can be sorted by date or most popular and I can imagine how popular
these will be with schools.
This is a recent image of the Crab Nebula

My neighbor ran this marathon last weekend. Since I can't even run down
the street without falling over:) to say that I was impressed was an
understatement! Congrats again!
There was actually a link to some photos but they were watermarked or something to where I could not save them.
I did however grab this thumbnail - enjoy

Current Mood - Sleepy
Current Music - Rolling Stones - Best Of
I really wish I could have made it out for this screening at The Earl
in East Atlanta. Read the into below and check out the site:) Do what
you can to spread this film and what it is trying to teach the average
consumer - who insists on shopping at Wal-Mart w/out realizing how
destructive it is for them and their peers. I don't want to start an
anti Wal-Mart tirade here because my feelings on the subject are well
known.
"Everyone has seen Wal-Mart's lavish television commercials, but have
you ever wondered why Wal-Mart spends so much money trying to convince
you it cares about your family, your community, and even its own
employees? What is it hiding?
WAL-MART: The High Cost of Low Price takes you behind the glitz
and into the real lives of workers and their families, business owners
and their communities, in an extraordinary journey that will challenge
the way you think, feel... and shop."
