A new sutdy by the Center for for Marketing Research at UMASS looks at the time needed to build and maintain a successful blog. Dr. Nora Barnes compiled data from 74 established bloggers and came up with some interesting results. No surprise here, but a successful blog takes time - much more than the daily average of one hour reported by over 65% of responders. |

Jay Rosen from NYU led the second discussion at BloggerCon focusing on the role of citizen media especially how to involve more peope in a professional manner that traditional media giants will respect and where the lines between personal and professional reporting blur. Blogging is a viable media source but it needs discipline and strategy to become professional reporting. And yes, there's also a Dan Rather connection to all of this. |

Irish mobile software provider Newbay has acquired Inamobile LTD - a UK handset application developer specializing in image uploads and viewing applications for Java Symbian and BREW platforms. The move enhances NewBay's offerings and attracts mobile operators to its customer base. The PIXOTA client allows single click photo upload potentially increasing picture messaging usage by 20X and uses HTTP vs MMS protocols allowing for increased image quality. |

Russian journalists Lagovski and Moiseynko managed to cook several eggs with the radiation and heat emitting from their cell phones. The results of this "unscientific" experiment were republished by Crorepixels with the authors stresssing people be aware of phone radiation and potential health issues. Personally, I prefer a hands free connection where ever possible. |

According to M:Metrics, the British are more likely to use social networking services than the Germans or the Americans by almost a factor of two. Teens 13-17 were still leading content creation across the surveyed regions with males making up almost two thirds (60%) of all users. See more below. |

Within a few hours, other major names including telecoms such as Verizon and media companies such as Turner and Fox had also signed on. |
