Current Mood - Working
Current Music - Streets - OPM
Made it to the festival yesterday - thanks again to Liz and Graham for
scoring SUCH excellent spots in line! I do think we were among the
first 50 people inside this year. However the beer selection sucked
compared to last year - at least in terms of some of the rarer Euro
brews - although the event itself was better managed and letting people
leave and re-enter (vs last year) was also a plus. I did enjoy the
Organic Porter from the Butte Creek Brewing Company and the very hoppy
Sledgehammer from the 5 Seasons Brewing Company in Atlanta! Coming home
I felt more dehydrated than drunk. Overall, a little disappointing but
well worth it. Awesome seeing everyone!
Decided
to skip church today and spend the afternoon fine tuning some finances.
I've been hit recently with various account charges and misc fees from
BofA and other creditors. Shutting of my HBO, using a balance transfer
option for one credit card and linking my checking to a joing family
account should result in around $75 in additional savings a month. At
least that's the goal. I see no reason to pay out fees simply for the
privelege of "doing" business with you or us or them. Which is still
not as bad as paying for something you never use.
Got a phone
call from my grandmother, telling me that she's reached Canada safely.
She left yesterday after spending six weeks with us. I told her I'd
love to visit and might actually use GreyHound vs flying. You can get
to Toronto and back for under a $160 via Detroit and that's pretty
unbeatable especially if you have a few days to kill. We'll see. |

Chris Coleman was spinning at a house party which disintegrated after a
fight broke out - you know how it is - when kids get drunk and start
accusing others of stealing their beer - so we left and ended up
at Michael Scott's house. A much cooler location with several of Atl's
progressive house and trance DJ's doing a stint at the tables. Several
people showed up after Club 1150 closed and myself and Ed Sherrouse
just hung out till we could hear the birds chirping outside.
Definately my most fun night of the month. I really need to make it out
for some more of Chris' events especially the Men With Records weeklies
in Midtown.

Remember this guy - the original Abdullah sticking forks into his
oppenents while throwing them around in the ring? Well, Abdullah is now
an Atlanta staple having opened a BBQ ribs and Chinese food place in
West Atlanta just outside the Perimeter.

I ate lunch there last week while working at a local school and let me
tell you - five bucks will get you a lot of food even today:)
Creative Loafing had a cool article about this place (see below) |

Alan and Tiffany had a great party down on the south side. I do
love/hate driving down Cleveland Ave but it's worth it just for the
chicken alley and sirens. Just kidding - it's a fun part of town and I
still wish I'd bought something down there when I had a chance.
This month we also celebrated Megan and Ryan's engagement as well as Christi and Tiffany's birthdays.
Congrats to all

Mythic Imagination Institute and Alliance for a New Humanity
in association with Emory University
present
Deepak Chopra, author of Peace Is The Way, believes it is possible for
individuals to transform their consciousness to such an extent as to
bring war to an end. James Hillman, author of A Terrible Love of War,
believes that we are ceaselessly driven to war by psychological realities
that reveal themselves in a multitude of ways. Perhaps we can tame this
drive, but can it ever be transformed?
These great minds will discuss and debate the causes of war, examine
the possibilities of peace, and explore the role of the imagination
during an evening's conversation moderated by renowned philosopher
and mythologist Jean Houston.

Ate at this wonderful breakfast place today with a few guys from work.
Standard fare in terms of biscuits and gravy, eggs and various meats
prepared however you want them. Southern food for sure in the sense
that it CANNOT be good for you but it sure tastes good! Mama's Kitchen
is on Memorial Dr between Moreland Ave and Boulevard heading towards
the Grant Park discrict. They close rather early in the afternoon so
get there early to enjoy great food in an old school cafeteria setting.
I want to think this place has been here for a while and I hope it
stays.

Went down to Cordele Ga, to hang out with my friend Wayne's family at
his fathers lakwhouse. Can't really ask more than water, bbq and
margaritas. Very relaxing trip and now I'm energised for the rest of
the summer.

Had a wonderful weekend in Cordele Ga at a friends family lakehouse. Three days of great food even better company leaves the soul very refreshed and ready to tackle the next challenge! Got some good information on the old town and efforts being made to renovate it. My favorite part was probably the state park with some WW11 era planes and tanks. You can look at lakehouse pictures here: |

Current Mood - Blank
Current Music - Something classical!
I went out to have "drinks w/ friends" on Friday and it turned into a
block party marathon. The n'bors essentially a bunch of people from the
Atlanta International School had tubs of alcohol just waiting to be
tapped.
Next
thing you know I'm trying to talk to some Swedish guy about Spanish
painters, trying to stop MS engineers from trashing the Mac OS, trying
to not break Santiago's heart about the job market for engineering
phd's and it's all beginning to look good - then this girl comes up and
says something demeaning about the state of romance and it's on. |

I'm
thinking of going Saturday afternoon/early evening...simply because I
think I got minor sunstroke last year. If anyone is interested in
meeting up let me know:)
Well, tonight I'm going to stop by
Kims party for a while and then hit some bars in Decatur afterwords. My
roommate is out of town - I might just be blasting the new Garbage
album till the wee hours. I'm feeling social but also very jealous of
my privacy which I haven't had much off this week. |
