Malaysia adopts tough policy for SMS'ing while driving

Late for your movie? Wishing your friend a hapy birthday? or how about just checking the latest stock quotes? The list of potential SMS's from ones car especially when caught in traffic is endless. And yet some if not most of us have expressed frustration at swerving drivers captivated more by their mobile than the road ahead. In Malaysia at least such activity can result in a fine and even jail time.

Indian portal Rediff launches mobile site

Indian technology and news portal Rediff.com has launched a mobile version of its popular site given the growing importance of the blog and mobile phone as communication and expression tools. The Hindu reports on the evolution of this tool and some of its hoped uses including realtime reporting and commentary on events, personal blogs and interaction on current stories as well as a a personalized web presence for this community's 30 million plus subscriber base.

F-Secure updates virus software for Nokia Smartphones

F-Secure and Nokia have announced that F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus will be available through Nokia to the users of Nokia N71, Nokia E60, Nokia E61 and Nokia E70. or the Nokia N71, F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus will be distributed on the memory card in the standard device sales package, while for the Nokia Eseries devices, the anti-virus client will be available at Nokia Catalogues service.

London Underground plans full mobile coverage by 2008

Dropped signals or no signals have long been associated with underground rail service. Cities such as New York and Boston and their European counterparts have long debated making phone service accessible for commuters on the train - despite the very valid fears of misuse - think terrorists and the possibility to explode something remotely. Still, the London Underground (LU) plans a functional system by 2008.

Mobile blogs becoming mainstream in India

Even as blogging is yet to gain ground in India, blogsites are experimenting with new tools like ‘mobile blogging’ to get like minded people to connect, share and express their views. While MSN India is beta-testing its mobile blogging tool for MSN Spaces, Rediff.com has launched ‘MoBlog’, on its recently revamped blogging site Rediffiland.com. The best part of moblog is that you do not really need an Internet connection to log onto your blogsite as blogging through SMS is also possible.

Religion and technology coexist in Kosher phone

The Washington Post featured an article on the "Kosher" phone - a no no frills mobile device being marketed in Israel by local provider Mirs for Orthodox Jewish and other conservative groups. It allows you to make phone calls and not much else. It has the blessings of several Rabbinical groups and a bright future if marketed correctly. What's more - devices and services like this are growing.
