Nokia announced today that future S60 Symbian phones wil feature an open source browser. Incorporating Apple's technolgy and developed under a generous BSD licence, the browser opens up many venues for developes small and large alike to hop on board. So far, response from the community has been overly positive as our snag from the Comeks photostream shows. |

Comeks is a S60 Symbian application by Arto Viitanen allowing you to create comic strips with your mobile. Flickr upload capability adds easy content sharing in a novel way. Simply use an existing image or snap one with your cameraphone, then use the software to add frames captions and other enhancements to produce some fun results. Comeks was featured at the recent Mobile Monday Global Summit. |

World Cup 2006 in Germany this summer will feaure mobizines by Refresh Mobile . Subscribers in the UK and other countries will be able to contribute latest news images and commentary directly from their phones while receiving content back in the form of special mobile zines or "mobizines." For a small fee, the phones will download the latest editions and subscribers will be able to interact with content as it arrives. All input will be generated via mobile devices making it a "first" for mobile blogging and sports. |

Ever since cell devices first appeared people have been crying foul over the radiation levels associated with them and possilbe health risks. Although no firm linkage to cancer or other ill effects has been established people (including me) do pounce on such listing when they are released. With all the legal issues surrounding blogging I was happy to see this WIRED article last week. Aimed towards photo bloggers it does address some common questions on respecting the subjects privacy as well as rules across various US and European regions for what is published legally safe.. In a nutshell, if you feel the shot is "risky" - it probably is... so keep these tips in mind before hitting your "upload" button. |

Less than a week after YouTube incorporated mobile video uploads into their service, AOL responds with a remarkably similar service. Called AOL Uncut and existing as a subset of AOL Videos, the service allows people to upload short videos and incorporates tagging as well as other social networking features. The service is free but users must possess an AOL login, be above 18 years of age and the service will be monitored by LiveWorld for piracy and offensive content. |

Helio charges ahead with MySpace and Facebook access on it's trendy new phones, Mobispine allows MMS and SMS like posting with mimimal costs while new products are solving J2ME limitations which hinder the "killer" phone app. Yes, says MIT Technology Review - it's a great time to be a mobile blogger. As more people obtain multimedia capable phones, it's only natural to edit and upload digital information directly from them, bypassing the computer and phone lines in the process. |
