If mobile blogging and live reporting could be intermeshed - what what the new product be? How about live mobile publishing? Mobile Monday featured this article showing how mobile blogging is transforming the workplace.
Video blogging in gaining popularity and there are mobile video blogs around. However, the latest camera phone with some specialized technology elevates mobile video blogs into near-professional reporting.

Jouko Vierumäki, CEO of the technology provider Fromdistance, and Jarno Alastalo, VP of the publisher Aller Finland explained to Novemebr 28 MobileMonday in Helsinki, how Tarja Turunen’s press conference in Helsinki was reported almost live on the web site of Seiska.

The video reports were filmed with a Nokia N90 camera phone and transferred to the web site over a mobile packet data network. The publisher had previous experience with camera phone reporting and was confident enough to announce a day in advance the coverage of the press conference.

Seiska, meaning seven, is a very popular Finnish gossip magazine. Tarja Turunen was the singer of popular Finnish band called Nightwish. A few weeks ago the band fired Turunen with a public announcement. For the fans this, coming right after the band’s world tour, was a mega-event. Turunen’s press conference came some days after the firing.

Fromfistance is an expert company specializing in, besides video transfers and blogging, mobile device management. They can see and manage mobile devices from their live database. This allows them to support reporters or other video bloggers anywhere where mobile networks reach.

Vierumäki explained how they had started the video blogging with a group of Finnish bands touring China where the GPRS networks are most crowded in the world. The Sounds Like Suomi site is blogging now from Moscow.

Alastalo’s problem was a reporter who was not technically skilled and orientated. The video capture and transfer had to as simple as one-two. You can see the mpg4-video as a flash conversion here.
