Hyperboy a Seattle WA startup (not to be confused with the webtoon Hyperboy ) is set to launch a service based on the MySpace.com model - a one stop shop for pictures, video, blogs and social networking community focused on user experience and the desire of an increasingly tech savvy public for the next "big" thing.
Hyperboy will launch test sites under the name Hypermob starting late Spring '06 and is encouraging users to sign up for its beta service. Although similar to the Myspace.com model, the creators are keen to emphasize content verses volume - "We are more content-driven to them being more profile-driven," said Brookler, who before co-founding Mobliss worked at MountainZone.com. "I am not saying we are dissimilar... But if we are going to compare to anyone else, we would say it is more Flickr-like -- with all content types, not just photos." Managing digital lifestyles is the goal in this still lucrative and fast expanding market. The service will be free for users and offer unlimited storage space plus interaction with mobile devices as a core function - another indicator that handheld device access is increasingly affecting mobile community design and interfaces, if not as an accepted standard then at least as a copycat feature of "follow the leader" which in this case is the recent Myspace.com and Helio partnership allowing service access on select handsets. Either way, Hyperboy is on its way and we will check in with them in a few months to see how they have progressed. Source: Seattlepi.com |
