As World Cup 2006 kicked off today, Mobhappy - that essential source of all things goodie and mobile, reported on a fun and inventive group mobile blogging project taking place courtesy of some German firemen. Essentially, any shots or video captured while on duty, will be shared on a collective blog and also made available on Flickr. Sounds cool doesn't it? 

Russell also wondered about "how how FIFA would feel about it in relation to possible infringement of copyright and compromising their sponsors’ huge investment? It would be amusing to watch them struggle to get this cute little 800 lb tiger back into its bag.

In fact I believe the prediction was for Germany 2006 to embrace mobile technology as never before, from mobile score updates from FIFA to projects like the one above. 

So projects like these are part of a larger trend all hoping to use user input to increase the overall experience. Certainly seems more interesting, in my humble opinion,  than the latest round of celebrity obsessed blog posts or the usual daily rote postings driving sites like Myspace and Xanga.
