Straight from Robin Goods latest Sharewood Picnic here's an introduction to Blip.Tv - a podcasting and video blogging service featuring personalized accounts and easy publishing to popular blog sites. Registration is free and the service has won rave reviews since its incept. But what makes it different and what are its chances of success against established leaders in this sector?
The Blip.tv FAQ states "We're five friends in New York City who believe in open media and all those nice buzzwords. We believe the world becomes a better place when the printing press becomes cheaper. We want to enable everyone to share video with the world." That's a nice gesture especially given the recent media attention to video blogging recently - YouTube and Aol's Uncut services being just two mentionables. Mobile uploads were introduced recently according to the offical blog. A good move given current trends. BlipFoot is the service allowing movie posting via e-mail which is interesting since similar services still rely on MMS for large file uploads. This is seen by many as an improvement. What I also found interesting on the blog was the suggestion to create many small movies and upload them in a series given the recording limitations of present phone based recorders. If they could somehow be streamed (something the service does not presenty offer) and accessed via the pre existing tagging system - that would be a great feature. One thing many have appreciated though is the ability to cross post to your blog and other services. If you haven't done that before this FreeVlog tutorial might be helpful. Blip.tv will also bookmart del.ico and othes with your tags and post thumbnails to Flickr. Sounding better and better by the minute isn't it? Blip.tv does seem to make it easier to share your video content. See: Blip.tv |
