Etribes, a new British photo and life blogging service for adults "too busy to blog" launched this week. Founder Simon Grice sees his market segment as those who wish to establish an online presence quickly and cheaply without all the technical hassles of maintaining a website. An annual fee of £24 comes with 10GB of storage, unlimited written blogs and the service is mobile friendly.
Our aim at etribes is to help busy people to use the Internet more effectively in their daily lives. We do this by providing a really simple service that enables you to publish, store and share your news, photos and files online quickly and easily. Alongside this, we offer a set of useful features to help you connect with friends and family, including our desktop Address Book, with text from your PC and ClickDial™. We understand that time is precious – so you can use etribes either online, straight from your desktop (by downloading the etribes Deskbar) or even via your mobile phone. This means you can use etribes wherever you are in a matter of seconds. - Personal publishing (‘blogging’) and photo-hosting all in one site
- No technical skills required—just type your news and click to publish
- Upload photos easily from camera, desktop or mobile phone
- Stylish website templates with no adverts or ‘clutter’
- Define groups of people and publish news and photos only to those people
- A catchy www.etribes.com/yourname web address to keep forever
- Low annual fee of £24 for a full etribes account with up to 10GB of photo storage
- Additional services let you phone and text people from your desktop
- Friendly, UK-based telephone support
The service already claims 27000 paid users and allows a 60 free trial period. Some are billing it as the "MySpace for adults" but time will tell:) I do like the ability to upload mobile photos and video but that is fast becoming the norm vs the exception today. I'd be interested in hearing from some users. See etribes.com for more info. Via:IT-Analysis |
