MyeBlog is a new Australian weblog portal allowing for anyone to create a blog without effort or coding skills. Like most services in this arena, the site uses templates, offers forums and moderation of posts and utilizes tags for social networking. Mobile blogging and podcasting are supported but only for premium users. Free memberships with limited features  are availabe till July 1st 2006.

Basic accounts offer a single weblog with commenting but no private posts. For what many consider "essential" features such as private posting, rss generation, enhanced profiles and mobile posting, users will have to sign up for the premium service stated as AUD $36.50/yr. PrWeb reports this company should make blogging a breeze. In my opinion LiveJournal and a host of others seem to offer a lot more for free although multiple logs (again a paid service) do sound like fun.

For users not familiar with blogging MyeBlog offers a good introduction:

"In essence, it is web-space which permits dialogue, interaction, reaction, and ongoing comment. It can be a form of e-journal or diary, and for those who need a Hyde Park corner soap box, it is the opportunity to rant and rave at will. For others, their blog is quiet reflective, philosophical space. More than a forum, for many the blog becomes a living, breathing expression of where they stand in the world, and how they feel about critical issues. In the hands of the media, the blog can be a powerful message for political and social change and ‘hot off the press’ news."

The community aspect of blogging is stressed repeatedly:

"A blog site offers brilliant communication opportunities for community groups, sporting clubs, schools, associations, religious groups, clubs of all descriptions, families whose members may be spread throughout the world, media entities and businesses of all descriptions. Clearly, there are many applications for e-marketing, e-commerce, multi-level and direct marketing organisations, science and technology providers..."
