Mobile technology firm Yospace is launching a new service that enables users to post web log, or blog, entries from their mobile phones. David Springall, CTO and founder of Yospace, said: “MMS has yet to reach its full potential. Users need a compelling reason to start sending MMS and blogging is this year’s new media phenomenon.” The service is one of a series of new “MMS to Internet” offerings that Yospace is launching. The firm is also launching a service that allows advertisers to create promotional websites where mobile users submit picture or video messages to compete in competitions.
Meanwhile, a “postcard” service give customers the ability to send pictures from their camera phone as post cards to a postal address for next day delivery. The company said it is also planning an MMS-to-email “gateway” that allows users to send MMS messages to email addresses in the form of operator-branded HTML emails, and also to receive replies from the email recipient. All services will use Yospace’s Media Community Platform (MCP). £2.5m was invested to develop the mobile blogging services and the MCP. Founded in 1999, Yospace clients include more than 1,500 mobile development companies, internet portals and mobile operators, including O2, Vodafone, Orange and 3. Visit YoSpace
