SixApart has released TypePad mobile, free software for Symbian, Palm and Windows Mobile devices allowing easy text and photo posting to any TypePad blogs or photo albums. Brought to you by the same people that developed SplashBlog , this cute and very flexible app impresses people with it's ability to extend live blogging for TypePad users worldwide no matter what device they own.
MobileCrunch says: 'TypePad Mobile is not intended to be a full featured blogging application, but rather a quick, easy and intuitive way to capture moments of your life or things you wish to share or remember and post them to your blog in real time with a minimum of trauma or frustration. I’m not sure that I’d want to author a post like this one on TypePad Mobile, but then I wouldn’t want to do so on any mobile blogging platform that I’ve seen or heard about to date. Since I think that most people probably like typing paragraphs of text using a thumb keyboard (or worse T9, god forbid multi-tap!) about as much as they like having root canals it’s a reasonably safe bet that the intended use for TypePad Mobile and the use that will become popular is essentially uploading photos with captions to one’s blog. It does this perfectly and because it is tightly integrated with their online/PC based platform I think this will further drive adoption of SixApart products as people want the freedom to post to their blogs from whereever they are.' As others have pointed out, it's not a full featured moblogging application, but it's photo and device management features are neat. For example, images can be deleted from your phone upon successful upload as can entire folders and entries. A great way to overcome limited memory on most devices.
