Yahoo and Motorola announced a partnership by which Yahoo's GoMobile moblogging software will be embedded on millions of Moto's handsets starting early 2007. When you consider that just the Razr has sold 50 million units in just over two years, you can see why this is such great news for Yahoo.
Yahoo has been struggling to keep up with Google in the mobile blogging arena and this gives it a definite boost. The "Go" application was designed to give the user a realistic portal experience over a mobile device and has done pretty well since its launch late last fall. Furthermore, considering Yahoo's established base and huge outreach, this would be a great test for such software. Over five service friendly models are currently available in select US (Cingular) and Euro markets.
Interesting to note that all this hoopla is about generating income via web/mobile based searching, an area where Google has traditionally ruled. Will this partnership change that? Download Yahoo Go Mobile from our filebase here.
